Our Publishing Process
From manuscript to book: An 8-step publishing journey
The Publishing Journey
Manuscript Submission & Review
Authors submit manuscripts through our online portal with a query letter and sample chapters. Our readers conduct a comprehensive assessment, evaluating the manuscript for literary merit, voice, and alignment with our publishing vision.
Acquisition & Contract Negotiation
If accepted, we discuss publishing details with the author (or agent). Contract terms address rights, royalties, publication timeline, and author obligations. Negotiation ensures clarity and fair partnership for all parties.
Developmental Editing
Our senior editor provides comprehensive editorial feedback addressing structure, character, pacing, and thematic coherence. Author revises manuscript based on feedback. Typically 2-3 revision rounds produce a manuscript ready for line editing.
Copyediting & Proofreading
Our copyeditor reviews for grammar, punctuation, consistency, and style compliance. Author reviews edits and provides feedback. Final proofreading ensures the manuscript is error-free before design and typesetting.
Cover Design & Interior Typesetting
Our design director creates cover concepts and solicits author feedback. Interior designer sets typography using carefully selected fonts, margin specifications, and page layout. Special printing options are finalized.
Print Production & Quality Check
Author reviews page proofs to identify any final errors. We coordinate with printers using archival-quality materials and premium binding options. Advanced copies are printed for review and promotional purposes.
Distribution & Marketing Launch
We execute coordinated marketing campaigns: review placements, bookshop outreach, author events, and media publicity. Digital editions are distributed to major retailers. Library and international distribution begins.
Ongoing Sales & Rights Management
We manage ongoing marketing, handle subsidiary rights (translations, audio editions, etc.), coordinate with international partners, and maintain author support throughout the book's life. Annual accounting and royalty statements are provided.
